Hello Everyone!

We're at the end of the process of making this book and I'm super excited about it! We are polishing up the art on the last page and seven of the last eight pages have been sent to Marina for lettering.

I've just set orders to lock on BackerKit so we can finalize pledges and addresses for when everything is ready to ship, so check your email and make sure everything is as it should be!

We're full steam ahead on making sure this book gets out very soon. I appreciate your patience and I can't wait to show you what we've been working on!

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to drop a quick update, Maru had to take a week to battle a fever, but is back to feeling healthy and working on the comic. We've got all but the last few pages completed and Maru has been on a fairly steady pace recently, so hopefully we'll have the digital version of issue one in your inbox soon!

I want to thank you all again for your patience as we've been working through this. Sometimes an unexpected grenade goes off in your life and, the state of the world being what it is, it's difficult to bounce back. You wind up playing catch up with everything for longer than you'd like and never seeming to get to rest, which causes everything to spiral. It's not a place any of us like to be in or be affected by. The best way we can prevent these things from happening is by creating a better world, which is sadly outside of the scope of what any one of us can accomplish.

Radical empathy is at the heart of this comic and it's something the team has been both striving for and grateful to receive from our supporters, so again, thank you!

In other news...

When I did the research that spawned the ideas for By Appointment Only, it also spawned other angles and themes I could talk about using Witchcraft as a central device that didn't make sense to put into By Appointment Only. Which is why I started working on a folk horror one shot titled Echoes that is currently funding on BackerKit!

Where By Appointment Only is about strength in empathy and femininity, Echoes is its inverse--the isolation of a world that wants to snuff out the unique and the magical and the horrors that come after burning the village witch. It's a folk horror that respects the reader's intelligence and crafts an environment of eerie dread as flowers begin overtaking a small village and the water begins to turn black.

We're about halfway funded and given the proximity of the subject matter, I think anyone interested in By Appointment Only would also enjoy Echoes, so check it out here!

Hello Everyone!

Maru has been making slow progress on the book and has finished up to page 20 leaving just 8 pages left to draw. Most of the pages that are left are in some stage of progress and Marin has been really on the ball when it comes to lettering. 

I'd love to make assurances about exactly what timeline we're looking at, but the reality is that Maru is taking the time that she needs to finish the book. As soon as the art is finished, I'll be able to pinpoint the timeline for fulfillment more precisely as everything should go very smoothly past that point.

The add-ons are already made and lettering and design elements have been consistently fast in their turnaround. I appreciate your patience, we're doing everything we can to get this thing made!

Slow and Steady!

Hello Everyone!

We're making good progress on the first issue, with more than half of it completely lettered and ready for print. The other half is coming in waves--both Maru and I have had a really busy summer season so far (even putting aside the emergency stops), but we're determined to get this made on a reasonable time frame.

We should have more to report and a solid idea of when everything is getting sent out closer to the end of the month. Until then!

The Work Continues!

Hello Everyone!

We've gotten about 90% of surveys completed, so let's make sure to get those in if you haven't already!

Pages are coming in slowly--Maru has been spending the majority of her time taking care of her dog, who is making a slow but steady recovery. She's just getting to the point where she can dedicate more time to working on the book and estimates that she'll be able to finish the pages sometime in June. Obviously, we are giving her all of the time and space that she needs, so we'll let you know when we have more information.

We have all of our add-ons made so we won't need to wait any extra time once we do get the books to print. We're also in the process of editing the scripts for issues 3 and 4!

Finally, as I'm sure you've seen, we're currently funding the finale of our NSFW slice of life Comedy, Smut! If that sort of thing appeals to you, I'd encourage you to pick it up while we're gathering stretch goals and offering free goodies to all our backers! Check it out here!
